Meet Kate

Kate Lovegrove

Kate is a highly experienced Family Mediation Council (FMC) Accredited Mediator, specialising in family mediation since 2012. She has trained with Resolution and National Family Mediation and is also a qualified therapist, bringing a deep understanding of both legal and emotional aspects of separation.

Before focusing mainly on her mediation practice, Kate worked as a family solicitor, representing spouses and parents. Her expertise was recognised in the Legal 500 (2014, 2015, and 2016 editions) as a recommended lawyer. While she no longer practices as a solicitor, her legal background enhances her mediation approach, providing clients with a clear understanding of their options.

Kate is a member of the Family Mediators Association and is registered and accredited with the Family Mediation Council (URN: 0305A).

Why work with Kate?

Empathic, Structured, and Solution-Focused

Kate is known for her calm, engaging, and empathetic approach to mediation. She provides a safe and supportive space where couples can discuss important and often difficult topics. With her guidance and structured process, separated couples can move forward and overcome communication barriers that may have left them feeling stuck.

Expertise in Both Law and Therapy

With a background as a family lawyer and additional therapeutic training, Kate offers a unique combination of legal insight and emotional awareness.

  • Legal Knowledge: As a legal mediator, Kate provides cost-effective support by ensuring both parties hear the same legal information together, helping them understand their options and common areas of conflict.

  • Therapeutic Understanding: Kate’s therapy training deepens her understanding of relationship dynamics, loss, and emotional challenges that can arise after separation. She helps clients navigate difficult feelings in a constructive way, aiming to make the mediation process feel less stressful and more amicable.

Specialist in Co-Parent Mediation

Kate works closely with parents post-separation, especially those struggling with communication.

  • Co-parent mediation supports the transition from ex-partners to cooperative parents.

  • It helps manage new family dynamics, such as blended families and new partners.

  • Mediation fosters better communication, benefiting both parents and, most importantly, their children’s well-being.

Kate’s approach is practical, compassionate, and forward-thinking, ensuring that mediation provides real solutions while keeping family relationships at the heart of the process.
